Before you get your hamster, you should know what kind of breed you want.
Most people get golden hamsters and other people get dwarf hamsters and other breeds. My two hamsters are Syrian hamsters and they are brown.
Checkered hamsters are the most aggressive. If you never had a hamster before, you should get a cream colored hamsters. Those hamsters are very easy to tame, and very friendly. Or teddy bear hamsters are a good choice.
NOTE: When you go to the pet shop to buy your hamster, ask the manager if you could hold the hamster.
Examine the hamster closely to see if it is healthy. Nose should be twitching and coat should be smooth. Eyes should be round and
not at all watery. If you notice that the hamster doesn't seem to be in good health, ask the manager to put him/her back and look for a new one, or possibly a new breed.
